Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has released the POWERGRID Apprentice Recruitment 2026 notification for 270 apprenticeship training slots across 10 regional establishments. Candidates must have passed their final qualifying examination within the specified two-year period.


Eligibility and Qualification

Candidates must possess the prescribed full-time qualification from a recognized institution. ITI applicants require a full-time Electrician qualification. Diploma candidates require a full-time Diploma in Electrical or Civil Engineering. Graduate applicants require B.E., B.Tech or B.Sc. Engineering in Electrical or Civil Engineering, as applicable. Part-time, correspondence, distance and online qualifications are not accepted.

Candidates must have completed 18 years of age at the time of application. No maximum age limit is specified in the regional notifications. Candidates awaiting final results, those who have already completed or are undergoing apprenticeship training, and candidates with more than one year of job experience are not eligible.

An additional ₹2,500 per month may be payable when company accommodation is not provided or availed. The DBT component is subject to an active Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled bank account. Apprentices are also entitled to the leave provisions mentioned in the notification.


Application Fee and Selection Process

There is no application fee for any of the 10 regions. Selection is based on merit according to the qualifying examination and applicable eligibility requirements. Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification in a 1:5 ratio against the notified training slots. A final merit list is prepared after verification. Therefore, candidates do not have to appear for a written examination or interview.


Documents Required

Candidates should keep their NAPS/NATS registration or enrolment number, educational certificates and marksheets, proof of age, applicable caste certificate, bank details, recent photograph and signature ready. PwBD candidates should also provide the required disability certificate or UDID card where applicable.

Eligible candidates should first register on NAPS for ITI Electrician or NATS for eligible Diploma and Degree Engineering qualifications. After completing the profile, candidates should visit the POWERGRID website, go to Careers → Engagement of Apprentices → Apply Online, select one region/state and complete the application. The form should be submitted before 10 September 2026.

Candidates should apply for only one region/state. Multiple applications across regions, states or trades may result in rejection. Applicants should ensure that their name and date of birth match their official documents. Completion of the apprenticeship does not guarantee permanent employment with POWERGRID.
